Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
Isa 53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Isa 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself, Isaiah prophecied that this would happen. He would be cutoff sometime after threescore and two weeks or 26 A.D.
The Beginning of Jesus' Ministry
Luk 3:1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
Luk 3:2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
This would be the fall of 26 A.D. More specifically, it would be 4 October 26 A.D. on the Julian calendar. We will get more into the evidence that helps to prove the prophecy on another page.
Luk 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

Joh 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
Forty and six years was this temple in building, the Temple had been in restoration by King Herod the Great . He started this restoration in 19 B.C. When we add 46 years to 19 B.C., it equals 27 A.D.(Remember to count inclusively and that there is no zero year.) This will be addressed on the evidence page as well. We will get into the last 7 years or week on the Daniel 9:27 page.
The people of the Prince that shall come
And after threescore and two weekes, shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himselfe, and the people of the Prince that shall come, shall destroy the citie, and the Sanctuarie, and the ende thereof shall be with a flood, and vnto the ende of the warre desolations are determined. This is from the original 1611 KJV with archaic English spelling and punctuation.
There are many interpretations of the people of the prince that shall come. We will deal with a few.
One of the interpretations says, that since the Messiah has been cutoff, the prince that shall come has to be the antichrist in the seventieth week. The prophetical clock has stopped. The Messiah has been cutoff and a gap of time inserted until the prophetic clock starts again sometime during the book of Revelation. First, the seventieth week would immediately follow the sixty ninth week. Second and most important, if Jesus did not fulfill this prophecy then no one can.
If you look at the interpretation this prophecy from some of the many denominations, many of the scholars from the same denominations do not agree with each other. The start date of the prophecy will be different. Some say that the start date for the prophecy was in 445 B.C. They say that you have to convert from lunar years to solar years to get to the right dates of the prophecy. If this is correct, why do they not continue with this principle when it comes to the verses like Luke 3:1. They go back to a regular counting, no converting of years here.
Because I do not agree with these interpretations, I will not put much time into explaining something that is incorrect. I will tell you this last interpretation that is wrong as well. Most people believe that this prince that shall come is Titus of the Roman Army. I do not deny that Titus and the Roman Army devestated Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D. This is a matter of history and I agree with it. I just don't agree that Titus is the prince that shall come and the Roman Army are the people of the prince that shall destroy the city and sanctuary.

Explain the 40 yr. line to 70 C.E.? One last comment from me. You said somewhere on this site that you are trying to not teach falsely.Remember, I have shown you by scripture that God blamed the Pharisee and the scribes for the destruction of the city and the sanctuary. If you cannot prove by scripture that the prince in verse 26 is Titus or Vespasian then would you be teaching falsely? I am not attacking you. Him: I cannot be manipulated to accept an interpretation that I do not find in the scripture. “the people of the prince to come” does not require an antecedent in the text construct for the prince or the people in the phrase by any rule of grammar. That they are “to come” is enough information that an antecedent is unnecessary not to mention that “the people of the prince” stands alone without need to identify the “prince” in the text. If I expound the historical fact that Romans literally and physically did destroy the temple in 70 ad, and that is the truth, how am I a false prophet?;
Me: When it comes to this prophecy, it is who God blames for the destruction of the city and the temple, not who we can prove by man’s history that literally and physically destroyed the city and the temple. It is God who set the time frame. All I ask is that you do is to prove by the bible that Titus and the Roman Army are who God blamed for the destruction of the city and the temple. Is it not the Word of God that should be used to prove the prophecy?

(Dan 9:26) KJV-1611You will notice that the Messiah is also Capitalized. If the Messiah was a correct antecedent the grammar would require this construction, “but not for himselfe, and his people shall destroy the citie…”“people of the Prince that shall come” only adds confusion if it is to refer to the antecedent “Messiah” because it becomes debatable thereby.
The first job of any serious investigator into Bible Eschatology is to lay down every notion of what they have been taught, read or believe about the subject and look solely to the Word of God for all revelation and resulting conclusions about its prophetic passages. And I mean “lay it all down.” If you bring any pretext, presupposition or preference into your investigation it is like starting a long journey with a compass that is just a few degrees off, and the end result will be right where the enemy wants to lead you. As well intentioned as many are, that is exactly where most seekers end up in bible eschatology. I would like to give him credit for this but, I do not want to reveal his name. I don't want anyone to bother him because of this article. I agree very much with what he wrote in this paragragh. As he stated, you have to go to the Word of God for the answers. Because of the answer he gave me above, I think he has forgotten this.
The Interpretation on the People of the Prince that shall come, according to the Bible:
Dan 9:1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
Dan 9:2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
Dan 9:3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
Dan 9:4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
Dan 9:5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

Daniel's prayer is a confession of sin and rebellion of his people against God. Dan 9:13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. Dan 9:14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. Daniel understood why God let Babylon destroy Jerusalem and the Temple. He understood why they were in captivity for 70 years.

When you read Matthew 23, you see that Jesus blamed the scribes and Pharisees for there sin, iniquity and hypocrisy. Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Psa 118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner. Psa 118:23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. Psa 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Jer 8:7 Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD. Jer 8:8 How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain. Jer 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them? Mat 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Mat 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Mat 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. Mat 21:45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. Mat 21:46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. Because of their rejection of the Messiah and his message the Jews would now pay a heavy price. The magnificent structure which symbolized God's presence and on which the Jews lavished much praise and showed great reverence would be destroyed along with their beloved city.
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to do what is listed in the prophecy. Then why did Temple or the city not be destroyed in the timeframe of the prophecy? Deu 5:9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, Deu 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. The point of this passage is not to communicate the number of generations who will be blessed versus the number who will be cursed, but rather to communicate that God's mercy far exceeds His wrath. He showed mercy for his people by not letting the city and the Temple be destroyed for 40 more years.
And the end thereof shall be with a flood, the destruction of the city and sanctuary would be as if a flood had destroyed it. All that was being prophesied was how the city and sanctuary would be destroyed, not when. Since God is a merciful God, he gave the Jewish people forty more years to repent. Num 32:13 And the LORD'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed. Just as he had made the Isrealites roam the desert for forty years at the beginning of the Old Covenant, so it was at the beginning of the New Covenant. Their form of worship to God was an abomination for the next forty years. God gave them this time to repent of their ways and return to him but, they could not or would not see the error of their ways. God had already left the Temple at the crucifixion of Jesus. Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Finally, in 70 A.D., God left the city and it was destroyed along with the Temple by Titus and the Roman Army.
