Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city; the meaning of this is four hundred and ninety years are determined on your people and the holy city or Jerusalem. The way we get these four hundred and ninety years is 70 times 7 (70 x 7 = 490). In these 490 years, these things are to be done:
1. To finish the transgression
2. To make an end of sins
3. To make reconciliation of for iniquity
4. To bring in everlasting righteousness
5. To seal up the vision and prophecy
6. To anoint the most holy
To finish the transgression: Transgression is an act of transgressing; violation of a law, command, etc.; sin.
To choose to intentionally disobey, this intentional disobeying an authority would be a transgression.
To make an end of sins: Sin is a transgression of divine law: any act regarded as such a transgression, especially a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle.
To make reconciliation of for iniquity: Iniquity is a gross injustice or wickedness.
To bring in everlasting righteousness: Righteousness is the quality or state of being just or rightful: the quality or state of being righteous.
To seal up the vision and prophecy: To seal is to assure, confirm, or bind with or as if with a seal: to close by any form of fastening that must be broken before access can be gained.
To anoint the most holy: To anoint the most saintly.
